as i sit and anxiously await the season opener of the mercer report, i will take a few moments to reflect on tonight's episode of 'the hour'.
first the good.
my girl, joan jett on the hour.
and now the bad.
am i the only one creeped out by the jokes about roman polanski? especially references about him and miley cyrus (aka 'hannah montana')? and does sly stallone really deserve to be tagged with polanski in a joke? am i really supposed to be laughing at this? and just because there's a "rant" about polanski afterward, does that make it ok?
and f.y.i. .. the correct phrase is joan jett is an inspiration, not was.

Hey buddy! I've been enjoying The Hour so far this season, but you are so dead on with the things you've pointed out. There have been a few comments made and jokes quipped that have raised my hackles a bit.
I do still love the George though :O)
How did you like the Mercer Report? To me, that man can do no wrong. I just luff him!
I'd forgotten specifically what Polanski had done and did take a quick peek at the Smoking Gun site...Polanski is not worth anyone's time, let alone a mention on The Hour.
I enjoyed the Mercer Report...that bit with Conrad Black??? Hysterically awkward.
Oooops, I forgot...Joan Jett looks AWESOME!! I hope I look that good when I'm her age!!!
mel!
less of 'the hour' bugged me this season than last as i got used to the change in format. the problems this year i have are mainly technical. but ever since the roman polanski bit, i haven't been able to tune in.

it's a double whammy for me when it comes to polanski. one, what he did. two, the fact that he fled. be a man, deal with it.
i find a lot of people excuse it because they feel he is such a great director. personally i try and avoid his work as much as possible.
oh and i did enjoy the mercer report but i didn't find it his best work. but the conrad black bit was pretty funny.
I'm used to the new format too.
what do you think about the "skits" they are doing at the start of each show? Some of them are soooo cheesy, but kinda funny.
mel - not a big fan of the opening skits. very cheesy. i do like seeing faces of the names that are behind the scenes tho.
The opening skits...some are funny, others not so much. When they are funny, they're good. When they are bad, they're horrid. :)
steph - i wish i could remember how the show used to open. pre main network.
sadly, i haven't thought the opener was funny in a long time.
i am still suffering from the aftermath of the polanski jokes. among other things, i've deleted any links to 'the hour' from my sidebar. i'm writing a post about it.
Excellent, thanks for posting the clip, I missed Joan on the show. Has she had some work done though? Her lips looked so tight!
I used to spot your bf George a lot but last week on Monday and Tuesday, I saw Rick Mercer in the park near CBC. Don't hate me, I wasn't looking for him! haha.
dale - i'm going to leave the question of work done alone. :)
hey! he's not my bf! especially since i am sooo pissed off at him right now!
i am so jealous you saw rick mercer! i am actually afraid to meet him. he's so brilliant.
there's a park by the cbc?
