if i should fall from grace with god...

i recently read a list of the most popular funeral songs . which sparked me to e-mail my friends to let them know that if any one of these songs are played when i die, that i will come back to haunt them. :)

of course, that brings up the question, what do i want played at my wake ( i shall have no funeral, no mourners for me). i've known for awhile that the song i want played is 'if i should fall from grace with god' by the almighty pogues. i will also expect a drunken karoke version as well. which my friend 'b' has generously offered to lead.

if i should fall from grace with god
where no doctor can relieve me
if im buried neath the sod
but the angels wont receive me
let me go, boys
let me go, boys
let me go down in the mud
where the rivers all run dry
this land was always ours
was the proud land of our fathers
it belongs to us and them
not to any of the others
let them go, boys
let them go, boys
let them go down in the mud
where the rivers all run dry
bury me at sea
where no murdered ghost can haunt me
if i rock upon the waves
then no corpse can lie upon me
its coming up three, boys
keeps coming up three, boys
let them go down in the mud
where the rivers all run dry
if i should fall from grace with god
where no doctor can relieve me
if im buried neath the sod
but the angels wont receive me
let me go, boys
let me go, boys
let me go down in the mud
where the rivers all run dry

here is a small sample for your listening enjoyment.

happy halloween y'all!

ps ...not a real coffin nor corpse. it's taken from the haunted deer lake walk.

sell-out, sell-out your love ...

another week of 'the hour'. here are my thoughts.

things i liked.

making cbc's blog tracker. :)
claire martin being back and pretending to banter.
the new disinformation segment.
being able to watch the show online. (speaking of which, when i went to watch the best of today it was linked to the wrong show. later this was posted up. "oops. we taped the wrong show last night. sorry, we're working on fixing that. but if you're interested in seeing sunday's passionate eye, it's right here. "... this amused me)
muppets with attitude video.
the story on athletes as slaves.
the line mr. stroumboulopoulos used when jian told him about his i-pod being stolen. 'steal my family, get your hands off my i-pod"
"the list" when it's real
the piano playing

things i didn't like.

the gill deacon "interview". if you are going to do a story on ethical chocolate, then do a story on ethical chocolate. don't gloss over it and use it to hide what basically amounted to an ad for her new tv show. this is my big beef this week. i'm so tired of having to watching these in show ads for upcoming cbc shows on 'the hour'.
ludacris' jacket.
"the list" when it's "funny"
hilary doyle and her piece on the taliban.
and of course.... the time slot and the theme music. oh, and the closers.

things i've noticed. the nose ring is out (which i don't care about) but logo t-shirts are in.

things i am not sure i miss. andrew coyne.

how i feel overall after week three of 'the hour'. i feel it's trying way to hard to compete with 'the daily show' and the late nite talk shows. i've read that they hired three new comedy writers and personally, i don't feel the show is really that much funnier. in fact, for me, it's probably less funny because it seems more scripted. the jokes in the past two seasons seemed more off the cuff. the show itself seems much more focused on being entertaining rather than informative. to me, it seems as if the show is going thru it's intial stages of trying to find itself. which is fine for a brand new show. but i've already sat thru those, two years ago.

now, is the point where i normally would recap the strombo show. last week, i mentioned that i would be carving pumpkins instead. that event was cancelled. but i am like seinfeld, even steven. i was then promptly invited to a dinner party.

let's see what was discussed via myspace. oh, look.. barbara w mentioned me. my first mention on myspace. (hee hee). ok, back to the actual show. here are some topics that were discussed on the show according to myspace comments. looks like bob was dissing calgary. scary movies. deathclocks. food eaten with fingers. shoes. specifically bob's shoes it looks like. getting things free because the cashier has not charged you. whether or not you should tell someone you don't like their partner. if anyone wants to fill in any details, that would be great. i am always interested in how funny bob was. and if alex was on, was he good funny witty alex, or need to be bitch slapped alex.

since i have no recap, i will offer up some bits and pieces instead.

here is a link to an article in pop journalism. and here's one in the globe and mail.

i bought strut magazine on the weekend because it was their all music issue. turns out mr. stroumboulopoulos interviewed k-os for the issue.

and finally i mentioned last week that mr. stroumboulopoulos was in calgary this weekend. i offer up links to two blogs with stories. i don't know them but i have read their blogs and i really enjoy them.

i am very jealous of these two because
a. i was never that together when i was that age.
b. they have wickedly awesome red hair.

the first one is by hilary m. among many other cool things about her, she asked one of the best advice questions on the strombo show. she asked for help with her math homework. she's got a great photo up. i originally told her that that it was sweet. but i took another look at it and i've changed my mind. i think i like it so much because they both look really devilish and full of life in it. especially her. :)

the other blog is by melissa bale. oddly enough, she also participated in one of my favourite advice spots. but her's is of a different sort than hilary's. melissa is the girl whose parents would not let her play soccer. she's still having trouble. she's got great pics up as well and she's right about the skulls.

for those interested, as far as i know, the strombo recap will be back next week. but one never knows for sure. :)

ps. this saturday are the gemini's. mr. stroumboulopoulos is up for a viewer's choice type of award. i believe voting is still open. mr. stroumboulopoulos' manager harrased us all by myspace bulletins this week. :)

ooh-hoo, jackie blue...

well, no, actually it's jackie greene. :)

so last nite, "r" and i went out and saw this artist jackie greene. it was kinda cool because we had no idea what to expect as we didn't know any of his stuff.

some background story. house of blues runs the occasional sale that they call 2 4 1 tuesdays. which is buy one ticket and get one free. i think it's a great idea. if a show isn't selling that well, why not try and get more people out so that you don't have to cancel? and it's good for me because a lot of times i have trouble finding someone who wants to come out and play with me. it's so much easier when they can save some $$$. i've seen a few shows that way. dragged a friend to see paul westerberg, did a dance with another when the new york dolls went 2 4 1. and was a "date" with another friend for hawksley workman. just to name a few.

anyways, a few weeks ago, one of the shows listed was jackie greene. i'd never heard of him but i always check out all the listings anyways so i google him and listen to a few snippets of his music. it kinda reminded me of van morrison in a way. it sounded ok. but then i saw that the tix were only 12 bucks before the discount. plus it was at richards on richards and i love seeing bands there. they are going to tear it down sometime soon to make room for condos so i want to get in as much time there as possible. so, "r" and i figure, let's go for it.

so, we walk into dicks on dicks (aka richards on richards.. a not so nice nickname going back to the days when bruce allen used to own the club) not having any clue what to expect. i meant to go back and listen to some more of his stuff but i hadn't had a chance. the crowd was older, semi-middle aged males with a few gals thrown in. no chicklets. i haven't been in a crowd like that in ages. there wasn't a ton of people out but luckily it's not a very big club and they shut down the top level, so it didn't feel totally empty. and the people who were there loved him.

musically, for me, it was all right. turned out to be more stevie ray vaughn than van morrison and i am so not a fan of the white boy blues in general. he did do two songs i liked but unfortunately i do not know what they were called. one was a country/folk sounding number (which i really really liked) and the other must have been one of the snippets i heard online because it reminded me of a van morrison number. but eventually he played one too many stevie numbers and we had to leave. overall, i enjoyed it but i am not looking to rush out and buy a cd. but i would like to track down that countryish number. and i am glad we gambled and went.

i would post a picture here but an extremely nice soundman said pictures were ok but no flash. unfortunately i do not know how to override my flash on my digital camera. and since he was so pleasant when he told me, i did not take any pictures, even when he was not around. and even if everyone else in the placed seemed to be. i did however, take a picture of gumby on the amp, before i talked to him. i offer than instead.

i love rock and roll..

and i do. and i love lists. and fridays...:)

today rocks because i bought joan jett tix today. awhile ago, i was trying to come up with five bands that i need to see but haven't. joan was the immediate choice and sadly, it was a list that was never completed. but maybe that's a good thing. because i will have completed the list in december now. :)

here it is my friday random top ten. i think i feel "cooler" this week. or at least not as lame.

1. intro/go to the floor – missy elliott
2. store bought bones - the raconteurs
3. abra cadaver – the hives
4. remember - the raveonettes
5. sea of alcohol – boy
6. the harder they come – waco brothers
7. and now for something completely similar – nofx
8. a singer of songs – johnny cash
9. futuretarded – the vines
10. all is full of love – björk

allison decided to expand the game into creating a song.

i decided to make a verse in the order of the shuffle. i used mainly the first lines because it seemed to work. but that nofx "song" really screwed things up. there's only two lines! and the first is welcome to our CD!

momma say momma sah momma can u do this
get up on your hands and knees.
ah know what's wrong with me
and i never think you'll get it,
drowning in a sea of alcohol
they never seem to hear even your cry
can you hear the blatant similarity?
i’m not a savior, and i’m not a saint.
i don't know how the future started
all is full of love

i screwed up my sidebar recently trying to fix it. i'm in the process of adding everything back but it's going take some time. so if you used to be linked and aren't anymore, it's not because we've fallen out...:)

who let the dogs out...

i am following the peter mackay debacle with great glee.

i do have a question tho. regardless of whether he said it or not, it is established that someone said it. so shouldn't the tories be concerned on finding out who did?

i have heard the accusations that the tories have thrown out about what was said about rona ambrose. i have heard a few versions of it. 'potted plant' and 'pretty plant'. i am not sure which one is correct. i hope it is 'potted plant'. because that's pretty clever. because that's really what she is. always in the background of stephen harper at conferences. i hope they remember to water her. but i fear that it was 'pretty plant'. which isn't as funny. or as clever. and if so, the tories have a right to complain about it. but they should have done it when it happened. the fact that it didn't seem to bother them then, well, just reenforces in my mind, how they feel about women.

for an extremely funny take on the situation, you gotta check out rick mercer's blog (http://rickmercer.blogspot.com/)

help me if you can...

if anyone can help me move my sidebar back up, please let me know.

dance like a monkey, dance like a monkey....

so another week has passed and here are my thoughts on 'the hour'.

congrats on the gemini win for the show. i won't comment on the host award as he seemed rather embarassed about the whole thing. :)

things i liked.

the iron maiden interview.
the interview with charles mcvety (not because i agree with him but because it made for interesting tv)
the garth turner interview
jian
the graphics for 'the best story ever' segment. very old school, cbc kids like.
and even i have to admit, the opener with the baby and adoption was pretty cute.

things i didn't like.

the closers. they are very boring and tame this year.

all the blatant plugging of upcoming cbc shows.

the lack of the 'canada' segment of news.

the beck interview. this is not because of the interviewer, but the interviewee. i've heard that beck is hard person to interview and by the looks of it, it's true.

the theme music. but on the upside, i think i have maybe figured out a way to deal with it (although my friend and i bitched about it on the way down to seattle. she just might hate the new pornographers more than me.) the new pornographers are on mint, and bill and randy have been nothing but super nice to me. so i will try and think of them during the theme music.

the time slot. i can not express how much i hate the fact that cbc newsworld does not seem to think anyone out west needs to watch 'the hour' during primetime. i loved watching it at 8pm. it was perfect. i could come home, relax, eat dinner, watch corrie street, go out and and walk the dog and then settle in to watch 'the hour'. my dog used to get a big ass yummy treat during 'the hour' so he loved it too. after the show was done, i still had time to do anything that needed doing before it was sleeptime. and if god forbid, i missed something or someone mumbled something, or there was something i really loved, i could catch it again at 11pm. or decide to tape it (sigh.. before my vcr broke down). i don't really watch that much prime time so there was rarely any conflict for me. but now, i either have to rush home to catch it, or miss the daily show and the colbert report. or stay up even later and catch the midnight airing on newsworld. or watch online. i'm catching some stuff on newsworld and some later on the cbc, and then trying to make up the bits online. this is not how i like to watch a show! call me crazy but i kinda like to watch it all in the same order that it is aired. and why has it been replaced by 'the national'... two straight hours of 'the national'?

ok, enough about 'the hour' for this week.

you know, it may have taken almost two years to get up, but at least strombo.com is being updated very regularly. good boy mr. stroumboulopoulos!

you know, there is one thing that always confuses me about listening to radio via the internet from other places. weather. traffic i can figure out. weather, not so much. i'm always like..what do you mean it's raining?

anyways, here is the weekly strombo show recap. i take even less responsibility than usual for the accuracy of it this week. i was suffering from a red bull overdose so not only was my mind wandering more than usual, i nearly fell asleep at one point. plus during the first ½ hour or so, the show kept cutting out.

there are a whole new series of humourous plugs for the show…is it bumpers that they call them? i know that’s what it is called on tv. anyways it's the promo for coming back to the show, before the show is on. if that makes sense.

alex will be on.

bob’s week was kinda scary. another negative fortune cookie experience. this time, his wife got it. it was ‘success is getting up one more time than being knocked down.’

bob loves yard work. he likes to get his hands dirty. when his grandparents first came to this country, they bought a place with a big back yard and grew corn. So did mr. stroumboulopoulos’s baba.

mr. stroumboulopoulos likes the new killers album. i have issues with the killers. i used to not mind them. but now they bother me.

during the commercial break, i learned that it was pierre trudeau who was a virgin until 27. weird.

mr. stroumboulopoulos is digging the new kasbian. bob wants to know if they have big floppy afros and a scarf. alex pipes in with no bob, that’s you. (i spat my bevy out in laughter at this point). mr. stroumboulopoulos checks and so sad, no afros.

alex’s week was all right. he doesn’t like his boss (mr. stroumboulopoulos) who counters with you don’t have to like me, you just have to perform. alex did the opening of the tragically hip special.

cleveland’s new expansion of sex education in all grades including kindgarten (http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061020/NEWS01/310200011/1056/COL02) was discussed. alex confesses that at 29 there’s a lot of sex stuff he wishes he does not know. he used to work at sex tv. and then he totally freaks me out by mentioning sex with clowns. although in my red bull overdose mind, i originally heard clam sex. which creeped me out even more. bob learnt where babies come from a neighbourhood bully during a hockey game. he informed him that babies come from sperm. and then the bully walked away. bob didn’t know what he was talking about. bob doesn’t want teachers teaching sex, because his teachers didn’t do a good job with anything else. they couldn’t teach me the metric system, i don’t want them teaching the tantric system.

frank black is played. an interview was taped with him that will be airing next week or the week after on the hour. i am sad. on 'the hour' they said it would be this week. damn it, i want to hear that interview!

stuff portion of show- topic #1 pizza. (i enjoy the stuff portion of the show)

and all the unique toppings have come out for it. the question comes up.. does chicken belong on pizza? i believe the answer from all three was no. this can be blamed partially on my caffeine overdose, but mainly on the fact that i am unwilling to look in-depth at my notes as i have not eaten dinner yet. the idea that you can put anything on a pizza is discussed. but then it is really just a sandwich. bob and alex are anti-ground beef as well. mr. stroumboulopoulos is not. personally, i love Italian sausage on my pizza…..(focus! stop dreaming of pizza!) . blame for all this is thrown at the marketing gurus. alex and bob are anti-hawaiian. mr. stroumboulopoulos is not. he loves the texture (the thought of this is making me ill now. pizza craving gone.) somebody who is vegan and works for the show talks about vegan pizza. alex is outraged (i think).

topic #2
a female asks do you believe in love at first sight. mr. stroumboulopoulos – no. he believes in extreme like at first sight. lust at first sight. but not love. alex believes in love at first sight, because it is anti-mr. stroumboulopoulos. bob does believe in it. he looks at love at first sight like an albino gorilla. extremely rare and if you find it, you worship it.

the pizza topic lights up the phones. i have never heard so many calls before.

A simpsons clip is played – the bit where lisa is trying to explain she has given up meat and homer thinks she is making up some magical animal because she claims that pork and bacon come from the same animal.

pixies – “velouria”

led zeppelin – ‘whole lotta love’ . zeppelin 2 was released some time in history on this day.

web cams are not allowed in the station. aaahaaa… something i can blame standard broadcasting for! apparently, they are afraid of viruses. a web cam in the studio would rock. i want to see bob dance!

george bush and his smug jackass smile are mentioned.

supremes – ‘can’t hurry love’. first all female album to go number one on this day sometime in history. mr. stroumboulopoulos feels they are one of the most underappreciated bands ever. (can you be a band if nobody plays an instrument? don't get me wrong, i love the supremes)

barbara from the stroumboulopouli offers to read bob’s card. this terrifies bob. he believes in everything. he agrees on the condition that it is done over the phone on air. but barbara is too shy to call in.

some guy from hamilton calls in and says he will make a wager the road to menudo will last longer than ‘the one’. haha

alex gets passionate when he feels mr. stroumboulopoulos is putting words in his mouth.

bob has decided to have his cards read by barbara via e-mail.

bob and mr. stroumboulopoulos like leonardo dicaprio.

advice time.

“our lives may be disastrous on some levels, doesn’t mean yours have to be.” angela the intern needs advice. she has a guy talking to her that she’s not into, but he is into her. he’s not her type, not outgoing. she’s always talking, so much that she even annoys herself. alex tells her to stop messing around and just tell him. that’s it. it will be horrible. that’s life. bob’s reaction is 100% bravo. i have nothing to add. listen to that man.

a myspace message says that alex sounds down on life. he replies.. what the hell is wrong with terri? that’s not what i said (true). i agreed with bob. mr. stroumboulopoulos and i do not sound alike. (true again.)

bob and george like lindsay lohan.

sugar ‘helpless’

adam from grand rapids calls for advice. he has a work permit to come into canada but will have to leave his good job. should he? everybody pretty much says yes.

some guy the same age as mr. stroumboulopoulos has a 12 year old daughter and i think he said she was on myspace. calls himself and everyone else middle age (wtf?!). claims it is creepy that mr. stroumboulopoulos would have a myspace account. (what is your 12 year old doing on myspace… it’s 14+) heated discussion on the merits/creepiness of myspace. alex likes the fact he called them middle aged.

barbara does the card reading by email. Here is a link to her blog on it.
http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=80393460&blogID=183708208&MyToken=6808b951-0818-4808-9b6c-89098312cf6d

kenny rogers ‘ the gambler’

mr. stroumboulopoulos hides some info from bob. he responds… don’t i deserve to see my own future?

bob on having his picture on strombo.com. why do you have to share my shame? it looks like you pulled it off smoking gun. actor 36 pulled over by police.

things they liked. mr. stroumboulopoulos – the film ‘the departed’.

bob‘s careless whisper moment. because of the beck interview, he doesn’t think scientology is that stupid. plus paul haggis is a scientologist. bob did not go into the studio when beck was on 'the hour'.

my careless whisper moment…. i really really liked alex this week. possibly more than bob this week. and i liked bob a lot. but alex was so fuckin’ on the ball this week. which is funny because i wanted to bitch slap him last week.

peace out...

ps.. there will be no strombo show recap next week. going to carve pumpkins instead.

pps.. for those that care, mr. stroumboulopoulos will be in calgary this weekend.(http://www.thecareershow.ca/seminars.html)

shut your mouth....

so, the conservatives have finally kicked out garth turner. what a surprise. i mean, everyone knew his days were numbered from the moment he spoke out during the david emerson fiasco. i’m actually surprised that he made it this long. i’m not at all surprised by the timing of it. the tories needed something to try and distract us from their so called clean air act.

i find it funny that stephen harper won’t shut up about accountability and openness of the government and yet, he will not let his mp’s speak. i couldn't believe he actually let rona ambrose speak today. what are you afraid of harper? are you afraid if they open their mouths that we will actually find out how dumb they really are?

but then maybe he has a point. i mean, if the accusations against peter mackay are true (http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/mackay_stronach_slur), maybe they really are that stupid.

here I go again...

ok, so awhile back i posted something about the shitty billboard i saw for the hour. on saturday, coming back from the film and tv expo, we made a pit stop so that i could take a picture of it. i was standing on the street corner when i took this shot.

thoughts on a week's worth of the hour. i hate the theme music. granted i hate the new pornographers. i think the worst part was when they actually had carl and kurt on for the opener on thursday. shiver. it took every ounce of control, not to change the freakin' station. actually no, the worst part is that damn song gets stuck in my head and i can't get it out. it wouldn't be so bad if i could at least be happy for the band, but i hate them so much that i resent having to listen to them four times a week. it's funny. i knew in my heart that when he said on urban rush that the theme music would have a west coast connection, that it would be the new pornographers. but i hoped that if i didn't acknowledge it, i would be wrong.

the show is slowly improving. just as i miss peter and kim from the first season (especially peter.. sigh...), now i miss the banter between claire martin and mr. stroumboulopoulos. and so far, hilary doyle has not impressed me that much. i didn't find her piece either interesting or funny. but i'm willing to wait and see. i didn't really like kim d'eon that much either at first and she grew on me.

stuff i liked this week. the talk of sleeping in space. finding out the barbarba frum's son wrote the axis of evil speech.

overall, my impression of this season's the hour is that it's trying to hard. at times the humour seems forced.

i also watched the best of the hour. although there are no new stories, there are new intros to the pieces. the hosting seemed more natural. however, be warned. the stories are edited versions. for the terry gilliam, they took out the retarded remark. for the letter he send to north korea, they edited to show a properly typed e-mail. and i think they also edited out the good looking comment from adrienne clarkson.

strombo.com finally debuted this week. a few days late, but i guess that's good for him. so far, i haven't really formed any opinion of it. it looks very much like a tabloid and if that is a picture of bob, he's got the some crazy ass hair.

mr. stroumboulopoulos was also featured in last week's hello magazine. a little spread of him at home.

music therapy ride has posted some shots of the whistler run. http://musictherapyride.ca/

Ok, here’s the weekly strombo show recap.

alex is back this week. mr. stroumboulopoulos has a cold. they are all exhausted this week due to the hour premiere. bob doesn’t believe in complaining about his job as other people have it worse. mr. stroumboulopoulos is living on advil. alex is part bat, sleeping in any position. bob & mr. stroumboulopoulos have worked together for 12 years.
nirvana – ‘stay away’.

the police – ‘so lonely’ . this is mr. stroumboulopoulos favourite police song this week. his favourite part is also my favourite part. mr. stroumboulopoulos interviewed andy summers today as he has written a book. He has led a bizarre life. i like the bit where mr. stroumboulopoulos talked about going over synchronicity track by track and about how andy got his track on the album and andy said that people think that the police was a democracy and it was not.

the new york plane crash was mentioned. apparently the woman’s apartment that it hit was the same woman that got hit with an out of control cat in the hat balloon in the thanksgiving parade a few years ago. weird. (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/local/story/461236p-388059c.html). a discussion on fate vs. luck follows. mr. stroumboulopoulos states he does not believe in fate, but then wants to change his answer. he feels that it’s all mathematical and that the end is predetermined but we will never know the end. alex feels this concept is dumb. mr. stroumboulopoulos accuses alex of sleeping thru the conversation. alex defends himself by throwing back if he was sleeping; it was because they were boring him. bob believes in coincidence. alex keeps interrupting him.

bob received a fortune cookie this week with this fortune. it is during difficult times that true friends become apparent. this concerns him. what difficult times? why do I need to know this? he wants normal fortunes about handsome strangers etc.

donnie has a story about fate and luck. he didn’t call the woman who gave him her phone number on a band aid (from last week) as he is currently spending time with another girl. he and this girl attended the taping of the hour and she was wearing new shoes to impress. she tripped and cut her ankle and said she couldn’t walk anymore as her ankle is bleeding. she needed a band aid; he had a band aid and whipped out the phone number one. it was all cool.

bob wants to capture the chinese market. he wants anyone listening in china to e-mail in, and then says if you aren’t listening in china, and then says something else. alex interupts and says if they aren’t listening, how can they do that? actually, alex, you need to listen. what bob said was directed to listeners who are not currently in china, not people in china not listening.

alex throws a snit about not getting paid and walks out.

they play the belinda interview and discuss the quote ‘can’t break up a happy marriage’. i had written earlier that i didn’t like that comment. i think the reason i don’t like it, is because it sounded a little too self-righteous when she said it. mr. stroumboulopoulos said he didn’t follow up on it in the interview as he believed it to be correct. bob brought up a chuck klosterman quote, which i will probably misquote. something like monogamy is only possible while you believe it is possible, once you believe it isn’t, it’s only a matter of time. mr. stroumboulopoulos stated that he is awful at relationships. he can have long ones and shorts ones, and they all have one thing in common. he’s in the wrong. the idea of getting married to him is foreign. bob is the marrying kind and it’s fantastic. nick the tech. director agrees. nick and bob disagree on what is the key to a good marriage. in a way they both agree its communication (mr. stroumboulopoulos thinks this is to 'everybody loves rayish'). nick says you need to talk, bob says don’t talk too much.

beck 'girl'

alex still isn’t back yet.

hilary doyle is interviewed. she is the new reporter for the hour and was interviewed for the job by mr.stroumboulopoulos, and producers ben and lindsey. she felt totally comfortable in the interview. bob asked if there was a casting couch and she stated that mr. stroumboulopoulos would not host an audition for that as his life is kinda a casting couch (which he denied). she lives in a coffin factory with no mailing address.

dandy warhols ' bohemian like you'

a plug for the upcoming advice time. bob & mr. stroumboulopoulos care. alex tolerates.

buffalo and outlet malls are discussed. bob loves the buffalo bills.

diddy and the burger king deal is discussed. alex is surprised that grandpa bob could even find youtube. alex wants to know if mr. stroumboulopoulos is upset that diddy has sold out? or because it’s burger king? what if it was harvey’s? mr. stroumboulopoulos loves harvey’s and is upset with mcdonalds because the manager of one mcdonald’s turned in ol dirty bastard and because his local mcdonalds has gotten rid of hot mustard. mr. stroumboulopoulos says he’s boycotting mcdonalds, alex calls him mr. mcdonald’s and mr. stroumboulopoulos says no, not for 2 ½ weeks. they discuss having a fish and chip place sponser 'strombytv'. bob wants mr. stroumboulopoulos in a pirate suit complete with parrot. mr. stroumboulopoulos says he would eat tartar sauce with a spoon. mr. stroumboulopoulos has a crush on the girl from lisanovatv. (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=LisaNova) .

advice time. jon from oshawa. he has been dating a girl for six months now. the other day, he comes home/over early and she is having drinks with her friends. the way they were talking to each other was awful. he described it as garage talk, vulgar and gross. it turned him off. he thought only boys did that. alex says he should leave her. she’s trash. i don’t care. i don’t know him. hilary says it’s a double standard. jon lucked out. she’s a dynamic, complex woman. mr. stroumboulopoulos says guys talk this way and when talk gets like that, alex always leaves the room disgusted. bob says men talk smack, women talk more smack. when you sleep with a woman, her five best friends can identify your penis in a lineup. guys don’t do this.

hüsker dü 'don’t want to know if you are lonely'

johnny thunders ‘can’t put your arms around a memory’ was brought up( http://www.bolt.com/benji-man/audio/johnny_thunders__you_cant/832205. bob suggests ‘can’t put your arms around a memory’s neck’. mr. stroumboulopoulos has been listening to early verve and snake (his cat) still climbs onto his chest and tries to rip the headphones out of his ears.

bob shares a funny story of how he waited outside muchmusic with all the little girls to see beck on the wedge. He is so excited when he sees him that he shouts out ‘hey beck, you represent.' beck looks at him and walks back into building. all the little girls stare at him.

10.35 comedy. mr. stroumboulopoulos imitates alex saying ‘don’t play that old guy with the ponytail’. alex complains that he does not sound like that. alex wants mitch hedberg. and they decide to placate him. the bit was about food and was so freakin’ funny ( http://www.mitchhedberg.net/). alex gets a round of nice call.

bob and alex fight like crazy. this week they almost knocked over a set at the hour. alex kept interrupting bob before he could finish a sentence when he was writing promos.

things they like. bob starts by bringing up outkast and the fact that andre 3000 will be working with madonna. a discussion on how many artists have ruined their careers by working or appearing with madonna. lenny kravitz. britney spears. sean penn. warren beatty.
madonna bad. annette bening good.

hilary is happy that the detroit tigers are contenders. and then she said something i didn’t catch. what it sounded like was trudeau didn’t have sex until he was 27. i am very curious to who it was.

alex liked nothing this week. and then says no, he liked fighting with bob. can’t wait for the show to be over so they can fight some more.

bob likes whitesnake. he was biking and the song came on in his ipod (bob, don’t listen and bike!) he didn’t like it when it was out but mr. stroumboulopoulos did. hilary loves it too, but didn’t know who the band was.

until next week.

hey mister dj put a record on....

i was reading the blog "mellow like jello" (mellowlee.blogspot.com/) on friday which led me to "just a cool cat's" blog (justacoolcat.blogspot.com/) which led me to american idle (blogs.citypages.com/canderson/) . which made me discover something fun called "american idle friday random ten". which is basically setting your music player to shuffle and listing the first ten that play. i listen to mine on shuffle a lot, so i'm used to very odd playlists.

here is mine...and as tempted as i was to cheat.. i didn't. as you may be able to tell. :)

1. six o'clock news - kathleen edwards
2. exactly like you - tony bennett & k.d. lang
3. st. elsewhere - gnarls barkley
4. park avenue - girls against boys
5. dance like a monkey - new york dolls
6. on the evening train - johnny cash
7. we will rock you - queen
8. stripped (intro) - christina aguilera
9. the ring - sarah harmer
10. no smoke without fire - james hunter

here comes the rain...

i love the rain. i'm sitting at my computer, listening to the rainfall. it's downpouring. i have a kahlua and hot chocolate which is making me happy on so many levels. not only is there a little more space in the cupboard, but now the tin can go out with the recycling tomorrow.

i've been wanting it to rain for ages. it actually started last nite. perhaps i caused it by giving the dog a bath. when i woke up this morning, it was still raining. i love rainy sundays. it allows me to stay in, guilt free. i lounged in bed, reading a book and watching coronation street this morning. my dog follows me in the lazy sunday lifestyle, as he too does not want to go out. he hates the rain.

life feels good this morning.

hate and war....

i hate stephen harper. and it's been a classic week for him. i thought last week was good, what with the cuts to funding for womens groups. i am not sure what is funnier, the conservatives having a minister of environment or them having a status of women minister. dear mr. harper, if you really want to save money, why don't you cut these positions? you obviously have no need for them.

so what's so special about this week? first off, had to be his environmental speech. i'd like to ask stephen harper to stop making these announcements in vancouver. i feel like you are giving us a bad rep. we didn't vote you in and this does not impress us. in bc, the number of elected conservatives actually went down, so you went out and bought david emerson. and let me see, you flew to bc to do this? apart from the dollar cost, what does that add to the environmental cost? ooh, and then let's ban environmentalists from the press conference. because it's a private meeting with the press? wtf? umm, how can a meeting with the press be private?

why didn't i like his speech? let's start with tieing in pollution with the economy. so if the economy goes up, we can pollute more. yah, that seems smart. but what else can you expect from some one who is not convinced that global warming is the consequence of human activity?

next up, slagging a beloved canadian icon (rick mercer). don't fuck with mercer, harper.
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2006/10/10/harper-industry.html#skip300x250

however, i do like the fact that rona ambose and the tories were caught out not telling the truth in parliament. she had said that the previous liberals had spent at least 100 million buying carbon credits. she cited a long list, but when the media asked to see the list (damn nosy media), they had to admit that the liberals had not spent one cent purchasing these credits. and i'm not defending the liberals either. it's just that my hatred for harper and the tories runs deeper than my dislike for the liberals. here's a link to the story...http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/story.html?id=e730155d-09bb-4482-8461-2890843ab213

and then harper was off again accusing the liberals of anti-israel. http://www.cbc.ca/cp/national/061012/n101296.html this isn't the link i originally wanted but i am having trouble linking it right now. that one including more of bob rae comments, including something about one shouldn't be either pro or anti israel.

i don't understand why people can not criticize israel without being accused of all sorts of crime. isn't that the beauty of free speech? it reminds me of all the backlash against artists who spoke out against bush in the early days of the iraq war. which leads me to this...

brandon flowers of the killers has decided that green day are anti-american due to their song american idiot. apparently he doesn't think the english and the germans and all the rest of green day fans are smart enough to understand what the song is about. oh, i'm sorry brandon, i listen to green day so i must not understand what is happening in the world, and grasp complicated issues and irony. oh, if i could only be smart enough to listen to the killers and sing along with lyrics like...somebody told me you had a boyfriend who looked like a girlfriend. here is the link to the story http://www.nme.com/news/the-killers/24702. i originally read it on allison's blog. who i don't know but enjoy reading about nonetheless. it was on the same entry as this hilarious story about a pushy man, and old lady and lots of pumpkins. she's also a really good artist and you should check it out. http://www.iduality.blogspot.com/

tears of a clown...

i'm finding this week quite disheartening. on the weekend, i learnt about the upcoming death of of tower records. growing up in vancouver, meant going to seattle a few times a year. and as i got older, a seattle road trip was never complete without a stop at tower records. for years, it was the tower records under the space needle, which we never failed to get lost trying to get to. even now, when i'm in the area of the space needle, i still laugh inside, remembering the drives around and around and around. later on, it was tower in the university district. not because we stopped loving the seattle center tower. and not because we were tired of driving around. but because we always had to go to the u-district anyways, it was more convenient to go there. and eventually we even started heading out to the bellevue tower. i loved the old bellevue store. never liked the new location and eventually stopped heading out there. i'm sitting at my computer and a flood of memories are reeling in. the excitment of finding something cool that wasn't available in canada. scoring in the delete bins. i'm one of those people that can go to my music collection and for the majority of the titles, i can tell you where and when i bought them. and who i was with. for a lot of them, i can even tell you how much i paid. (and yet, i can barely remember what i did yesterday...ha ha). i can tell you i bought a lot of stuff at tower over the years. and don't even get me started on tower london. living in london for a few years, i must have spent at least a couple of months in tower alone. i am being flooded with memories not only of music, but of past and current friends and the times we've spent hanging out, checking out music.

the other sad news this week, is cbgb's is finally closing it's doors for good. sadly, i have never been to cbgb's. but being the music lover that i am, it's always held a special place in my heart. i was always like one day.. i will go to new york and i will go to cbgb's.

i'm feeling very melancholy right now. not up to continuing and i think i will just go and put on the ramones. i wish my turntable was working. i'd put on some vinyl that i got at tower to complete the scenario.

froggy went a courtin'....

i went out for lunch today with a friend and her baby, who is the quietest baby in the world. we went to the frogstone grill in coquitlam. i had froghouse burger which has bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, mustard, mayo and roasted pepper mayo and had the daily soup with it (ham and potatoe). my friend had the same except she had fries and a caesar salad as well. the soup was kinda bland, and the fries were not tasty. also, when i got my beverage it was about an inch short of the top. i did enjoy my burger but i don't think i'll be going back. they seem to have issues with lettuce at this restaurant. my friend's salad had tons of lettuce with brown spots, so much that we had to send it back (which they were happy to replace). and the lettuce on both burgers was old and limp. i would have had it replaced but our server took forever to come back and check on us. i was way too hungry to wait for her. i did mention it at the end. she also never came back and checked on us for drink refills.

but the good part about going there was that i found a tea shop in the same complex. i bought this amazing smelling tea called chocolate lovers tea. i was pratically drooling when i smelt it. i haven't tried it yet, as i am waiting to go to a friend's house and we will try it together.

looking for clues....

i'm fascinated about how people find my blog. here is a random sampling of what people have been searching for when their search engine points them towards my site.

good day sunshine..

well, today is another bright beautiful sunny day and i'm feeling better than i did last nite.

i did end up watching 'the hour' last nite. i thought 'the daily show' would be a repeat for some reason. isn't it some kind of holiday in the states? alas, i was wrong.

anyways, i'm glad to say that it didn't suck. did i think it was great? no. i really liked parts of it. i thought the opening bit with the hockey players was awesome. perhaps it was just hearing the word douchebag. :) and i really like the fact that the interviews are live now. last season, they seemed to be much more obviously taped. i thought belinda came off well in her interview except i did not like her comment that no one can break up a happy marriage. and terry gilliam made me laugh when he used the word retarded. i do think that perhaps a set re-organization may be necessarily because during the interviews mr. stroumboulopoulos kept looking at his notes which were at a table beside him, away from the camera and the guest. it's a little disorienting. perhaps a desk is in order?

what i didn't like. the music. apart from everything else, i do not think it's obtrusive enough. i want the music coming back from commerical to be loud and obtrusive enough that i can hear it from another room. right now, i find the music is just blending into the commercials and it's not obvious that the show has started again. sorry, i don't always stay in the room for the ads. i don't like the new graphics and i'm not thrilled with the new set. the graphics seem a little busy and i think i feel the same way with the set. i'm going to have to see it a bit more to decide.

i thought the live audience would be distracting but other than the intial opening which played a bit stiff, it was fine.

if season one was a 10, and season two was an 8 1/2, i'll give season three a 7 for now. i'm still pretty bitter about the time slot choices out west. it sucks for them, because i'm not sure how many people will turn off the daily show.

east is east and west is west and i don't know which one i like the best

well, the screaming blue messiahs may not know but the cbc certainly does. or at least, they certainly have given that impression to me in regards to choosing to fuck bc over with 'the hour's' time slot.

yes, i know 'the hour's' a big deal now, what with it finally heading over the main netwerk this season. and even tho i'm worried that the show will suck this year, i am happy for them. and i want to give it a shot and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

in all the ads and promos for the show, and in interviews, it has been said, the hour is on at 11pm on the main netwerk and 8pm on newsworld. so i'm like great. today is the season opener and i eagerly tune in at 8 to catch it. and it's the national on. i'm like wtf? turns out that you can only watch it at 8pm in the east, in the west, you have to watch it at 5pm. are we all supposed to be unemployed out west?

and yes, i can catch it at 11pm. but you know what cbc, like many viewers of the hour, i like to watch the daily show at that time. and i don't know if i'm willing to give it up. i don't have a vcr so i have to chose. and right now, i am so pissed off with the cbc, i am not sure what i will choose.

thanks cbc, i feel royally fucked over by you.

i turn on the radio....

i was listening to the radio in my car this week and got to hear a radio promo for the hour on a commercial radio station. i thought it was appropriate as it was on neil morrison's show and he and strombo are buddies from way back. again, it was strictly an informative ad.

i'm glad the promos have been posted up on the website. i've seen them and i agree with my friend. that prince albert one is tres cheesy. on air, the only one i have seen is a basic informational one. and both times during the coronation street omnibus edition. i thought for sure they would show one during the premiere of the mercer report but nope. apparently, people who watch the hour watch coronation street and not rick mercer.

and now onto the weekly strombo show recap.

they talked about planning the show. which consists of picking the music, and then, picking topics to a certain degree. they fail to live up to the topics as they always get sidetracked with their own questions.

bob will give mr. stroumboulopoulos an online narcissism test later in the program. mr. stroumboulopoulos knows he is not a nice guy. and he knew the educated life was not for him when he took his grade 11 advanced chemistry test and scored 17 out of 114. he answered every question and thought he had done all right. it made him look at his career choice as he was looking at becoming a funeral director. but that door was now closed. he wondered, why do you need chemistry to be a funeral director? i felt the same way in a similar situation with chem 12. i wanted to go on and study photography but without the chemistry, i was s.o.l. that reminds me of one of those email questionaires a friend sent me the other day. normally, i don't fill them out, but i was in the mood to waste some time that day. one of the questions was.. you have accidentally exploded something. and i was like, i took high school chem, of course, i accidentally exploded something. :)

mr. stroumboulopoulos' plans for the evening. go home, dropping bob off on the way. get home around midnight. pick up a drink at the corner store across the street. walk upstairs, turn on the tv and watch studio 60 which was pvr'd. watch a movie. go to work at 6. bob is very organized with the rest of his nite. nite sweats planned for 2 am. brief calm for 3am. nite terrors at 3.15. 4 am - internet. 5.15 rest. 6 am alarm goes off.

cubically contained by the headstones is played. i've always filed the headstones into something i'm not interested in but i kinda like the song. i've never heard it before.

they talked about the opening of the new trailer park boys movie and played some clips. one about bible thumpers and the other about jalapeno chips. funny stuff. this went into talk about the trailer park boys and nationalism and bob feeling it is a silly emotion. this could be my fave bob quote of the evening. "sometimes hurting others makes me feel better about myself." mr. stroumboulopoulos says that he only feels nationalism about hockey and the occasional beer commerical. the only two times he has lost it on camera is an interview at muchmusic with noel gallagher comparing record reviews to lord of the ring reviews. the other time was when he interviewed bubbles. usually he isn't paying attention and is looking ahead for what is coming next.

the clash 'i'm so bored with the usa' is played. it made me laugh because i was in the car with a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago and that song came on. she turns to me and says 'who is this? the clash?" i was so shocked that she had to ask that i just stared at her. which made her break up. and now, whenever we hear a clash song, she pretends she doesn't know what it is.

the mark foley story was mentioned. i saw a friend saturday nite and we started to discuss this. she was like omg. i saw the headline 'foley goes into rehab' and i thought it was dave foley. i totally thought of you until i realized it was mark foley. she knows i have a bit of a thing for dave foley. he's so funny. and i adore funny boys. the daily show's take on the foley situation had me in tears, it was so funny.

the grasshopper joke from last week was repeated. bob liked it last week, not so sure this week.

a new segment debuted last week. questions about stuff. just in order to be as wrong as much as possible. :)

the first question was about text messaging. some girl has just started dating some guy and he only seems to want to communicate via text messaging. she wants to know if that's rude. mr. stroumboulopoulos wants to know if she's dating him. he obviously doesn't think it's rude. bob disagrees. the discussion went into how content is important. the phone was brought into it and is it bad (bob) or good (mr. stroumboulopoulos) for relationships. mr. stroumboulopoulos says emoticons good, emo bad. olivia (from toronto life) says texting is fine and is only rude if it's not paired with other communication (good answer!) bob wants to communicate only by sonnet, because if you can say it in a sonnet, you really mean it. olivia's article will run in the january issue of toronto life.

alex, who is not on the show this week because he has a date calls in with a report. they are hanging out in his living room. mr. stroumboulopoulos sounds a tad upset alex blew them off. alex says you want me every week, pay me. bob originally covered for alex's non-appearance with mr. stroumboulopoulos, playing good cop to his bad cop.

on the debut of 'the hour'. feel like kid in candy shop that is terrified out of his skull and allergic to candy.

dj shadow is played. he's doing a show at the metropolis in montreal. mr. stroumboulopoulos has been thrown out of there, back in the days when he was drinking.

more on alex's date. he has been hiding out in his bathroom while he is on the phone. it's been 15 minutes. they are watching the hockey game.

loveline with dr. drew and his narcissim test was brought up. bob asked some of the questions, here are strombo's answers. modesty - i think i am a modest person. my mother taught me humilty. compliments - embarrasing. one of the reasons i totally hate my birthday so much. do you want to blend in or be centre of attention - too grey. in work, centre of attention, outside of work, blend in. following orders? don't mind. bob calls him a liar. says he wears other people's suggestions like a suit three sizes to small. loves to show off his body. when bob asks him the question, he gets a faceful of stomach as mr. stroumboulopoulos claims he has no body. bob calls him somewhere between bullard and bubbles on the celeb scale.

mr. stroumboulopoulos was pulled over for speeding. i liked his attitude about it as he was totally okay with the ticket. i am a big believer in you do the crime, be prepared to do the time.

they originally wanted to call the show 'the call up' after the clash show. but the radio powers insisted it be called after mr. stroumboulopoulos, so they went with the strombo show.

massive attack is played. a cd for sex, foreplay to be done prior to pushing play. it's a record for sex and sex only. bob pipes in with a tip for guys. if you want to know if your gal loves you, see if she will have sex to side 2 of rush's hemisphere. i, of course, would leave the room if some guy played rush for me at all. but then i hate rush.

advice this week was for donnie who had a girl give him her phone number on an unopened band aid. but she didn't even give it to him herself. she got her friend to.

another question was from a girl who is in a 7 year relationship that wants to get married as her biological clock is ticking. should she propose? bob's advice. no. not necessarily because of tradition but as the topic had been discussed and he hasn't proposed yet, the answer may not be what she wants.

don’t want to know if you are lonely by hüsker dü.

t. rex is played. beautiful.

adrienne clarkson will be at the newstand this week on the hour. she called mr. stroumboulopoulos relatively good looking. he says she is totally hot for him.

10.35 comedy is bob newhart. i love bob newhart. i took a friend to see him once and the whole front row was bald men. it was very odd.

bob feels he is getting old because can't deal with irony of bad things ie.. people dancing to bad music. i don't think that's old, i think that's just good taste. mr. stroumboulopoulos liked mad magazine as a kid, not cracked.

the end.

if i knew you were coming i'd have baked a cake...

ok, i am no martha stewart. my friends joke that i don't even know where my oven is. however, in the past two days i have made yummy honey bran muffins (with my secret ingredient.. cinnamon) and today i made a lemon cake. i am most excited because i manged to flip the cake out of the pan without destroying it. this is a minor miracle for me.

the above, of course, is not my cake. but a rather delicious cake from earlier this year.

i'm ramblin', ramblin' 'round, i'm a ramblin' guy, i'm ramblin'...

so, just to prove i'm not obsessed with all things media, i thought i'd post a few pics from various little day trips i've been on recently.

a friend and i decided to take the dog up to the mountains for the day. our goal was grouse mountain. after we finally remembered how to get there (d'oh, we are vancouver born and raised but apparently this means we have no idea where anything is...) , we finally arrive at the grouse mountain parking lot and realize... this is not where we wanted to go. we were thinking seymour, not grouse. we head back down and end up going to cypress, which was way better anyways. this is shot along one of the trails on the way to some lake we never got to.

on the way back from cypress, we stopped at ambleside park in west vancouver (again, forgetting how to get there). they have this huge off leash area with beach access, fields to play in, trails and a really nice walkway by the water. this is a railway bridge in that area. later we even got to see a small train go over it.

my friend calls me up. she says, let's play hookie and take your dog out somewhere. i'm like where? she's says how about cultus lake? i'm like ok. we drive, and when we reach pitt meadows she turns to me and say where are we going? i was like omg, i'm totally on the wrong road. and she's like but where are we going? i reply.. cultus lake. she says but where is cultus lake? i reply.. near chilliwack. she says that's so not what i meant. where is that dog lake we go to all the time? i laugh.. that's buntzen lake! we passed that ages ok. we laugh and laugh and laugh because again, we apparently have lost all sense of direction in our hometown. we ended up stopping near a dyke in pitt meadows to walk the poochie. it was a beautiful day and this was taken there.

i did want to post a picture from harrison hot springs and the sand castle competition but blogger has decided not to let me upload pictures at present.

to sum it all up, i'm enjoying fall this year.

she watch channel zero...

so i have been in bed ill for the past few days. although being ill sucks, it hasn't been too bad. sometimes when you are sick, you can't do anything other than lie in bed and feel crappy. although i have slept tons, i have also been able to read a little and catch up on some dvd's. i even managed to catch a couple of new tv series.

ugly betty - i like america ferrera, even tho' all i think i have seen her in is 'lords of dogtown'. the show was nothing like i expected. i thought it was going to be a an out and out comedy but it's more of a drama with bouts of black humour. i had no idea until i googgled it (well, technically i wikipediaed it) after i watched it that it was based on a latin soap opera. salma hayek produced it and she does a cameo as a player on the latin soap opera that the family watched. i think the transformation of america ferrera into ugly betty is done well. most times, when a hollywood actress is playing dowdy, it is totally unbelievable.. ie.. she takes off her glasses and she's gorgeous! what a shock! but betty is well, believable unattractive. especially as america is quite the lovely lady. i enjoyed the first episode and i think the show has promise. the one thing i didn't like was that the show was an hour long. it seems like any show that i am interested in these days in a hour long. i have trouble sitting thru a show that long. i will definately check out next week's episode.

studio 60 on the sunset strip - a friend of mine raved to me about this show. again, i thought this was a comedy, not a drama. this comes from not reading any reviews for the new tv season. i wasn't going to watch it, but then i saw an ad for the show where i found out the d.l. hughley was on it. i find him amusing so i thought i'd give it a try. i was very surprised to discover that it was an aaron sorkin show. i guess i really should read up on new tv shows...:) and just how many known players were on it. like steven weber. anyways i liked the show, but because i hadn't watched it from the beginning, i was kinda lost for most of the episode. i am not sure yet if i will add this to my regular viewing schedule. i'm starting to feel a little too tied to the tv lately.

one of the dvd's i watched was ' x- the unheard music'. when i got it, i thought it was actually a concert dvd, but it actually more of a pseudo-documentary. i don't think it's great, but i enjoyed it. it's funny, my gal pals all rave about how hot jon doe was and i've never seen it myself. until i watched this dvd. oh, okay. i get it. :) he has really intense eyes.

well, normally this is the time where i would review the strombo show. well, i wasn't able to catch the show. (damn! where are those podcasts?!) from what i've seen on his myspace page it looked like a good one. there is talk on first dates (i'd like to hear more about that), calgary - love it/hate it, going to the gym. and it seems like alex was on again as well. if anyone would like to share any memories of the show i'd be much obliged.

however, i can recap something else of mr. stroumboulopoulos. while lounging in bed sick on the weekend, flipping channels, i spy urban rush on (as it is here about ten times a day) and what do my eyes see. the friday round table discussion starring richard dean anderson, sook yin lee and mr. stroumboulopoulos. topics discussed included new york banning the use of trans fats in restaurants (he is for it), advertising in space (he wouldn't go to starbucks on his block, let alone in space), and celebrities/gossip. i can't really remember why celebrities were brought up, but the topic become about how unreliable information affects them and he said he really wasn't bothered by it, most of the untrue information about him came in print interviews rather than the internet and the only time it became a real problem was when you started dating someone and they ended up believing what was in print. or something like that. i did see the whole show but not all at once. i just kept catching more and more of it as urban rush kept repeating over and over. plus i was on medication. so i have this weird disjointed memory of the show.

he was also on later in the program with patrick from sony/bmg (who's looking younger than ever), dunner from cfox and a guy from the chopper place. they were there to promote the charity music therapy ride from richmond to whistler (for details see http://musictherapyride.ca/). he was also promoting the season opener of the hour and mentioned that the new theme music would have west coast connections and the panel van would be back. and for my friend who always asks me, his hair was short and styled properly.

it's weird. i wrote down a couple of things from the show and very little of it makes sense. i wrote down 'use condoms'. i have no idea what i meant by that. is it from urban rush or is it just a personal reminder to myself? :)

anyways, for anyone who reads this for the strombo re-cap, it should be back next week. assuming that it is on during the holiday/day before the hour opener. for awhile, it looked like i'd be chowing down on turkey but we are having it in the afternoon. and it wasn't even my idea!
